updated version of the Evacuation Day slideshow during our
March 8th, 2001 meeting. The light which is
missing a globe is being repaired and will soon be replaced.
All of the acorn lights are now numbered. This will help
whenever someone reports a light out, make sure you have the
number that is painted on the pole. There have been reports
of kids seen doing drugs in the park, John asked that the
park service and 911 be called for any problems seen up in
the park. Work orders have been submitted to remove the
graffiti from the benches.
South
Boston High School - The
association reported to Mr. Tom Pilleri that kids have been
hanging around on neighborhood doorsteps and leaving trash
on resident steps and hallways. If anyone sees this
happening Tom asked that he be called at 635-9857, and call
911. There was a fight on the golden stairs and one girl was
pepper sprayed. Tom also reported the school is still
getting kids fresh out of DYS. Bunker Hill Community College
will open up classes out of the H.S. starting in January.
There were 3 Fire Alarms last month, 1- heat detector in the
boiler room was faulty, 2-pull stations were pulled by kids.
We told Tom that the dumpster still a major problem for the
neighborhood, and we asked Tom to get it cleaned up.
Boston
Police Dept. - Sgt. Bill
Meade and Patrolman Rich Doherty briefed the association on
events that happened in or around our neighborhood. There
were 30 reports filed for the Thomas Park area. Great job
reporting, keep the reports coming. There were a lot of car
breaks. A couple of kids were arrested for smoking pot on
the golden stairs. There was an Armed Robbery in a bathroom
of the S.B.H.S., the suspect was apprehended at the Andrew
Square T station. So far 6 kids have been arrested in
different locations in South Boston for vandalizing cars.
There was an assault with a knife at Bells Market. A 5 month
old boy was bitten by a dog up at the park on Dorchester
Heights. The boy was bitten three times on the back side.
Sgt. Meade stressed that all dogs are to be leashed at all
times.
