Meeting Minutes

October 12th, 2000

Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM                                                                                             Number of attendees: 46

DHA Officer Elections Held - Kevin Delehanty opened the meeting and we immediately held the nominations and election of officers. Kevin Delehanty (President), Bill Kenneway (Secretary) and Lisa Maleckas (Treasurer) were all re-elected to a second and final term in their respective positions. We have two new Vice Presidents: Ed McLaughlin and Fran Roche. Congratulations to all and a very well done to the membership for coming out for such an important event.

National Parks Service - Nothing major to report. We informed the park service again of the graffiti on the benches and there is a light missing from one of the poles. The flag is also very tattered and should be replaced.

South Boston High SchoolThe 1-Minute delay on the fire alarm is still in force this year and as of the this meeting no alarms had been pulled and with winter approaching we may not get any until the spring. The school yard and dumpster were brought up again and Tom Pilleri said he would keep a very close eye on the situation.

Neighborhood Crime Watch - It was acknowledged by the membership that we need to get a meeting scheduled so people will be able to participate in this worthwhile program. With all of the recent car break-ins, now is the time to get this program really off the ground. Peter Alto will present the association with a meeting schedule and information at the next DHA Meeting.

Dorchester Heights National Historical Register Nomination - Any questions concerning the nomination should be directed to Jennifer Goold from the Boston Landmarks Commission at 617-635-2519. You can also email her at jennifer.goold@ci.boston.ma.us.

SEE YOU ALL AT THE NEXT MEETING!
