May 9th, 2002

Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM                                                                                             Number of attendees: 38

 National Park ServiceJohn Manson told the Association there is no new information about the funding ($75,000) for the replacement of the trees that died a couple of years ago. The Park Service has waived the required $50.00 fee for the use of the park for our Annual BBQ.  John also told us that the monument will be open beginning Saturday, June 15th through Sunday, September 1st.  The actual days of the week you can go inside the monument are Wednesdays, 4 to 8 pm, and Saturdays,10 am to 4 pm.

3rd Annual Neighborhood Clean-up - The clean-up scheduled for Saturday, May 11th from 9AM to 12PM was talked about and Joe Rull of the Mayor's office told us   The city will be providing tools, bags, T-shirts, coffee and donuts. 

Officer Elections - The election of Officers and Directors was held and the following members were elected;  President - Bill Kenneway, Vice Presidents - Donna Mueller and Peter Golemme, Secretary - Joanne Sweeney, Treasurer - Diane Belcher, Directors at Large - Rick Sweeney and Kevin Delehanty.

No Man's Land - Michael Dowling told us the funding for his grass roots No Man's Land clean up project is being cut. To date approximately $100,000 has been spent to restore the area behind the school which is still not completed.  If anyone is interested in donating please call Michael at 617-269-8382.

Mt. Washington Bank - Jack Forbush the Vice President of Retail Operations and Director of Public Relations introduced himself and gave us a brief update on the bank's new Andrew Square Branch.  Jack also volunteered to provide us with a presentation on personal financing.  We will be taking him up on his offer during the next DHA meeting season.

Boston Police - Sgt. Bill Meade and PO Rich Doherty told us there were 16 reported incidents in our neighborhood during the previous month.  Most were minor, however they did arrest a man who was breaking into cars on Thomas Park.  The man was walking his dog as a cover. He was caught because of an alert neighbor who was watching him.  Please remember, report any suspicious activity to the Police Department by calling 911.

DHA BBQ - The 4th Annual DHA Summer Starter BBQ has been scheduled for Thursday, June 13th, starting at 6pm.  This event is a perfect time for all DHA members to come together in a non meeting atmosphere and bring a friend up to join the DHA.  There will be burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, face painting, and whatever else we can come up with.
