April 12th,
2001
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Number of attendees: 35
National Parks Service
Marc
Vagos now has a new assignment and our new representative is
Ranger John Lynch. John can be reached at 617-242-5631. The
DHA has made arrangements with the park service to allow us
to use the heights for our 3rd annual summer starter picnic
which will be help June 14th at 5:30.
State Representative Jack Hart -
Rep. Hart was at
the meeting and spoke to the association about the
possibility of setting up a joint meeting with the Andrew
Square Civic Association. The purpose of the meeting would
be to address the rise in problems both associations are
having with the school children during the day. Both
neighborhoods are having many problems with vandalism, kids
doing drugs right out in the open, drinking and just plain
harassment. The time is now to get with our new Captain
Cunningham to ask for the Boston Police Departments
assistance in dealing with these issues.
Dixfield St. Parking -
The
association was asked to vote as a neighborhood
representation on the viability of placing small pylons in
the sidewalk across from the four garages at the end of
Dixfield St. The purpose of these pylons will be to keep
people from parking their cars across from the garages and
to stop the damage to the fence along that sidewalk. The
association voted for this motion and a letter is being sent
from the Association to City Councilor James Kelly to
officially inform him of our approval of this work.
South Boston High School - There
were a total of 11 students suspended from the school for
various reasons. Also school security as been taking a more
active role in policing the neighborhood during the school
day. They have been very responsive to calls from the
neighborhood about students being where they shouldnt be
and doing things they shouldnt be doing.
