Welcome: Peter Golemme, President, called the
meeting to order at 7 PM. 26 persons in attendance.
Peter
reminded members that meeting reminders are being circulated
by email each month in addition to flyers being distributed
in the neighborhood. Minutes are posted each month to the
website at http://dorchesterheights.org. If anyone would
rather receive notices via mail, please let the board know.
Peter discussed the successful Christmas caroling event at
Marian Manor and the Christmas Party, and thanked all
members for their hard work in making each event a success.

Police Update: Officer Rich Doherty reported that there
has been an increase in B&Es in South Boston. Two thirds of
these are not forced entry. Items stolen include laptops
and jewelry. Notices are posted in the neighborhood with a
"TIPS Line" for anyone with information to report.

Park Update: Ranger John Manson will speak at the
March DHA meeting on the history of the area. The meeting
will be held at the South Boston Education Complex (High
School). It will be open to all interested residents,
families and students. Ranger Manson reports that the
grates around the trees are necessary for adequate drainage.

Guest Speaker: Michael Bare, President, South Boston
Citizens Association: Mr. Bare announced the many
initiatives that will be held as part of Evacuation day,
2005. These include a battle reenactment at Dorchester
Heights, March 12th at 10:30 AM; a trip to Fort Ticonderoga
to bring back the “lost cannon” which will then be on
display at Mt. Washington bank from 3/1-3/12; a poster and
essay contest for youth, Senior Salute (including corned
beef dinner), March 5th at St. Monica hall. There are more
than 20 events planned and details are to follow. Senator
Jack Hart is the Chair of the Anniversary Committee. Mr.
Bare invited participation from DHA members and many
volunteers are needed.

Guest Speaker: Mr. James Mansfield, Department of
Transportation: Mr. Mansfield announced that resident
Parking has been approved for South Boston. Signs will be
posted in March. Resident stickers are available at City
hall. Current registration with name and South Boston
address, proof of address (current utility bill, credit card
bill or bank statement) are required to obtain sticker.
Violations cost $40.00. Members raised many questions. Mr.
Mansfield announced that the parking program will be further
addressed at a community meeting on January 27th,
7 PM at the Gavin School. The number for information about
resident parking is 617-635-4BTD. Mr. Mansfield also
invited us to contact him via email with questions.

Treasurer's Report: Pat Teague, DHA treasurer reports
a total of $238.00 in the account. The Christmas party cost
$358, there is an outstanding web-site bill for $250.
$76.00 was collected as donations at the party. She
mentioned that we are looking for web site sponsors at the
cost of $35 per month or $350 for the year. $300.00 dollars
in dues have been collected. Peter acknowledged our
generous contributors including Mt. Washington bank, Police
Athletic league, Marian Manor, and the Seapoint Restaurant
who donated the use of the room for our Christmas Party.

New Business: South Boston Citizens Association is
interested in sponsoring the DHA website for 3 months. A
full schedule of Evacuation Day events and meetings for
volunteers will be circulated to DHA members soon.

Next meeting: February 8th, 7 PM, Marian Manor.
Focus is on Youth. Guest Speakers: Michael
Dowling, Medicine Wheel, Sr. Ann Fox, Paraclete Center. To
volunteer for a committee or follow up on any issue please
